With the change in direction (I can see us grabbing a £100 Metro a week before the rally if we’re not careful!) came the need for mods to the frame. So out came the disc cutter.
Ooo I can hear the screams of UVA Fugitive fans everywhere.

Change of direction
Ok so when we first thought about using a “Rail buggy” frame for our Stead, we were basing the climate on a lovely cruise along the south coasts of France and Spain as per 2006 Scally Route.
So when we found out that the 2007 route was mainly all Alpine driving through the many passes in the mountains, it soon dawned on us that the seriously cold and unpredictable weather we could face wasn’t going to be easy in a car with no windscreen, doors, body work, heating etc.
Time for a re-think, so without hesitation we know the above list of parts missing from our “Ride” are going to have to be added some how.
Not an easy task, seeing as these cars aren’t really made for this.
Over the next few months you should see our cunning plan unfold in the gallery as we try to transform something that looks not dissimilar to a climbing frame in to a car, and all for charity.
We can’t give too much away about the design of our car to be but hopefully it will end up looking quite sporty ![]()
